Old Heaux. New 304s. One house. Everybody has receipts.
When Long Beach native LaLa Ledger accepts an invitation to HEAUX HAUS, she expects cameras, competition, personalities and chaos.
She does not expect the money in her contract to disagree with the money in her email.
And she definitely does not expect a supposedly definitive history of the game to completely leave Long Beach off the map.
What begins as a wild reality-house experiment erupts into a cross-country battle between generations. Old-school nightlife veterans arrive with cash-era rules, discretion, club knowledge and stories nobody bothered to archive. A younger digital generation arrives with subscriptions, livestreams, analytics, content ownership and absolutely no intention of being lectured by women who came before them.
HEAUX vs. 304s.
But underneath the laughs, shade, fashion, arguments and outrageous competition is a bigger question:
Who actually controlled the room?
From the Pike and Navy-era Long Beach to clubs, motels, escort culture, webcams and subscription platforms, HEAUX HAUS follows the money, the labor, the image and the gatekeepers. Black, Cambodian, Chicano, Samoan/Pacific Islander and queer Long Beach histories collide with a national HEAUX ATLAS that keeps discovering the official record left somebody out.
LaLa intends to put them back in.
Funny, provocative and conscious without pretending every era was glamorous, HEAUX HAUS is a fictional reality-show novel about women, work, culture, technology, survival and the stories that become history.
Everybody who built the room belongs in the record.
